In the spring of 2018, I sold my business, and I thought I would take life a little slower, but that hasn't worked out so well. Going from 60 to 70 plus hours per week can cause restlessness.
With all the time I now had on my hands, I needed something to do besides mowing the lawn, fishing, and playing golf. I guess I am close to being a workaholic.
During my life as an entrepreneur, I have had many passions, but the passion that never faded was cooking especially BBQ, grilling, spices, and salsa. For many years I was always crafting new creations to give my cooking more flavor because the store bought products seldom lived up to their expectations.
In general, some salsas tasted pretty good, but they were too salty, too mild, too hot, too sweet, or were too watery to scoop or so thick it felt like you had to chew. Or the most undesirable feature was, they simply tasted like cardboard, no flavor. You could never know until you made the purchase and if it was undesirable, you were stuck with it, with no guarantees, if you liked it or not.
One day I was at the store, and on an impulse, I bought a reputable brand of salsa. When I got home and opened it to put on some tacos, it was as in the past, boring, watery and bland, no flavor.
It was at that moment I had a light bulb moment. I became inspired to make something better than the prevalent store-bought salsa. As a result, my journey to become a salsa manufacture began.
My inspiration was to craft a salsa that hadn't been created. I didn't want to curate a salsa that was the hottest or spiciest salsa on earth. I wanted a recipe where my customers could use my salsa to enhance the flavor of their favorite dishes.
Texas Sweet Heat has a homemade flavor, a thick and chunky consistency not processed like the typical store-bought runniness of water and vinegar plus a lot of heat to overcome the problematic no-flavor. Our motto is "Flavor before the heat." We feel that we have the perfect answer to a gourmet salsa, not too hot, not too sweet but a perfect blend for almost everybody.
To have the best flavor, you have to use the best ingredients to create that homemade fresh flavor and, of course, NO preservatives, EVER — gluten-free, fat-free, low carb, vegetarian, and Vegan-Friendly.
Since we have been in business, Texas Sweet Heat has won 11 regional, national, and international awards. The expert judges know a great product when they taste it.
